OMAR KHAYYAM (1048-1122), "Rubaiyat", Book Of Pots Or" Kuza-Nama"

From the OMAR KHAYYAM Rubaiyat "Book Of Pots." or "Kuza-Nama"

"Kuza Nama", or "Book of pots

Listen again. One Evening at the Close

Of Ramazan, ere the betterMoon arose,

In that old Potter's Shop I stood alone

With the clay Population round in Rows.

and,strange to tell, among that Eathen Lot

Some could articulate,while others not:

And sudenly one more impatient cried-

"Who is the Potter, pray, and who the pot?"

"Tradional Persian Pottery Shop Scene!"

Then said another-"Surely not in vain

"My Substance from the common Earth was ta'en,

"That he who subtly wrought me into Shape

"Should stap me back to common Earth again."

Another said-"Why, ne'er a peevish Boy,

"Would break the bowl from which he drank in Joy;

"Shall HE that made the Vessel in pure Love

And Fancy, in an after Rage destroy."

None answer'd this; but after Silence spake

A Vessel of a more ungainly Make:

"They sneer at me for leaning all awry;

"What! did the Hand then of the Potter shake?"

EUROPEAN MODERN & CLASSICAL MASTERS OF POETRY

Percy Bysshe Shelley, (1792-1822), Selected Poems

Love's Philosophy

(I)

The fountains mingle with the river

And the rivers with the ocean,

The winds of Heaven mix for ever

With a sweet emotion;

Nothing in the world is single;

All things by a law divine

In one spirit meet and mingle.

Why not I with thine

See the mountain kiss high Heaven

And the waves clasp one another;

No sister flower would be forgiven

If it disdained its brother;

And the sunlight clasps the earth

And the moonbeams kiss the sea;

What is all this sweet work worth

If thou kiss not me?

William Blake, Born 28-November 1757, died 12 August 1827

The Lilly

The modest rose puts forth a thorn,

The humble Sheep sthreat'ning horn;

While the Lilly white shall in Love delight,

Nor a thorn, nor athreat,stain her beauty bright.

Never Seek to Tell Thy Love

Never seek to tell thy love,

Love that never told can be;

Silently, invisibly.

I told my love, I told my love,

I told her all my heart,

Trembling, cold, in ghastly fears,

Ah, she did depart!

Soon as she was gone from me

A traveller came by

Silently, invisibly.

-He took herwith a sigh

*Willam Blake 1757-1827*

WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE, (1564-1616)Lack of true kowlege of His play as the roman-pagan dark chacters mentioned in bibical-text, rejected and even crused by Christ saints, and eastern Christian foundation as rebilious VS prophetic orders, like's of Marc Anthony, and hellenist queen Cleo in the occupied Egypt.

SONNET Number 60

Like as the wave make towards the pebbled shore,

So do our minutes hasten to their end;

Each changing place with that which goes before,

Insequent toil all forwards do contend.

Nativity, once in the main of light,

Crawls to maturity, wherewith being crowned,

Crooked eclipses 'gainst his glory fight,

And Time that gave doth now his gift confound.

Time doth transfix the flourish set on youth,

And delves the parallels in beauty's brow,

Feeds on the rarities of nature's truth,

And nothing stands but for his scythe to mow:

And yet to time in hope my verse shall stand,

Praising thy worth, despite his cruel hand.
